Ungaro chief executive leaves just months after hiring Lindsay Lohan

PARIS – Mounir Moufarrige, president and chief executive of French fashion house Emanuel Ungaro, has resigned just over two months after a widely panned collection by American actress Lindsay Lohan. – Reuters

If you haven’t heard, Lindsay Lohan was hired by Moufarrige, Chief Executive and President of fashion line Emanuel Ungaro as the brands artistic advisor to hopefully revive the brand and attract younger fashionistas. Well, after the fashion critics tore the collection to shreds.

Different sized shaped hearts were on on asses, foreheads and nipples.

‘It’s not good to show your nipples, so they should be covered,’ Lohan told Reuters, referring to the omnipresent heart-shaped pasties.

Fashion bible (next to Vogue of course) WWD said the line was an embarrassment.

“As for the clothes, they looked cheesy and dated, as has often been the case chez Ungaro during the post-Emanuel revolving door of designers. Hot pink, orange and flashy, with an overworked heart motif relentless in its execution, the collection displayed none of the promised younger side Lohan was supposed to deliver. Nor in a million years would one guess that the lineup was designed by one young woman and “creative directed” by another. Glitter heart pasties all around, ladies?”

Ungaro said in a statement on Wednesday that Moufarrige would continue to advise the company, which has gone through several stylists and two chief executives since couturier Emanuel Ungaro retired in 2004.

A spokeswoman for Ungaro said Moufarrige’s departure had nothing to do with Lohan.

The Times hung out with Lindsay at the office:

The day before the show, Ms. Lohan was staring at herself in a mirror in Ungaro’s grand offices on the Avenue Montaigne, a stone’s throw from the ateliers of Yves Saint Laurent, Givenchy and other famous French labels. She picked up a black and white scarf and tied it around her head, then replaced it with a black one, and then clumsily stuck a red sequin-covered heart to the side of her head while a team of designers watched her…

“This is just so cool,” Ms. Lohan said, turning her attention to a white minidress splattered with sequins. “It needs more rhinestones, just so it pops.” Off to the seamstress it went. Pointing to another white dress, she said: “I call it Michelle Pfeifer in ‘Scarface.’ I was just in my office sketching for next season. I was here until, like, one o’clock last night.”

From all the fashion forward Hollywood starlets, Lindsay was chosen, so let’s see if there is an encore or if she moves on to the next project.

Nicole Richie’s: House of Harlow 1960 Shoe Line

12.18.2009 § 1 Comment

Nicole Richie has been working a lot these days on her accessory line her contemporary clothing line Winter Kate and now here is a preview of her shoe collection that is set to come out in January 2010 and be sold at LA’s Kitson Store and online at

The shoes include peep-toe booties and platforms with geometric cutouts and tribal inspired patterns with a contrasting whipstitched diamond print running down the back of the heel.

Super casual and from the looks of it comfortable too with those chunky heels.

Prices still haven’t been set, (trust me I’ve been searching!) but considering her jewelry line is fairly affordable, I’m guessing the shoes will be somewhere under $200.

(Wishful Thinking)
