So is it just me, or does the recession call for tons of massive brands to collaborate to produce mad cash and some semi-affordable (some not so attainable) collections?
The former Nicole Miller intern is ditching Hollywood and now dressing indie, urban downtown hipsters that crawl the fashion scene hungry to stretch their wallet for a Posen piece in their wardrobe.
He joins a shiny roster of high-fashion designers with new diffusion lines that include Doo-Ri Chung, Thakoon Panichgul, Richard Chai, and even recent Swiss Textile Design Award winner Alexander Wang.
Prices range from $75-$700… which warrants some jumping up and down knowing his collections typically retail from $900-$12K and his custom pieces as high as $20K.
Z Spoke, the 60-piece line, drops exclusively at Saks Fifth Avenue come Spring 2010. It is more of a minimalist approach compared to his dramatic party get-ups and glamourous evening dresses.
“It’s not a change of design philosophy as much as an answer to retailers’ demand for more American sportswear—meaning he needs to sell some clothes.” – Z.P.
